Nicole’s New BMW F650GS is HERE!

OH it’s an exciting Day!!

Today, Nicole’s New BMW arrived!! We ordered the bike early in 2008 after seeing it at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show. Nicole fell in love with it, found out it would be affordable, and decided to go for it!

It’s a beautiful bike… I must admit. Being a scooter lover myself, I’m not convinced I like many motorcycles, but I must admit the attention to detail and the obvious construction quality as well as flexibility of this bike is superb. Nicole ordered the SideCases and a Top case (which has still to arrive). They are amazing. They lock very securely into the custom frame, and are completely waterproof and expand when more room is needed – you just need to pull a lever inside the cases, and presto, a tone more space… The seating position is almost completely upright, and quite comfortable. Interestingly, the 650 is acctually an 800cc engine. I’ve never seen a bike with a 650 model number and 800cc engine… Strange choice from BMW. It hasn’t hurt BMW too much though as they are reporting huge sales. In fact, the demand for this new 650 is so high, they have delayed a new model year for another one of thier bikes just to try and meet the demand.

Congrats to my Sweetie for a great choice… Now we finally have the room to go on some proper trips

together!

Nicole\'s New Bike

Trip to Harrison

Solo Ride No Comments »

Wow, what a wonderful ride today.. My first ride that was hours long… It was wonderful. The new Windscreen made a world of difference – it was like the difference between sticking my head out of the window of a moving car and just having the window open a crack.

I took Lougheed Hwy from Vancouver, all the way to Harrison Hot Springs – what a fantastic route. Beautiful views of mountings, fields, and great long stretches of empty roads curvy roads – fantastic!

Once I got to Harrison I had planned to sit and relax by the lake for a while… But after walking around for 15 minutes, I really didn’t feel like staying. I couldn’t wait to get back on the road Sections were very windy today. It was the first time I had ridden in such gusty conditions, and was surprised to see how easy it was to cope with the wind. The bike naturally reacts to the wind – leaning towards the wind as it blows, and then righting itself again when the wind stops. At first I felt very uneasy riding this way, but after a while it became very natural.

Once past Harrison, I went further, onwards on the #7 Highway. I had never been past Harrison on #7, and was surpized to find even more stretches on wonderful empty road. How could such fantastic driving roads so under-used… Not that I’m complaining…

I can’t wait to take Nicole and Michelle and Eryk on this route…
