Today a couple packages arrived in the mail… The last little bits and pieces for our bikes are coming in.. I’m very excited to finally reinstall the RAM system back onto my bike. RAM is a company that produces mounting solutions for motorcycles and many many other applications. One of the great things is that they have such a huge variety of both generalized, and custom products available.
With my 400, I installed a RAM ball with a huge ugly base onto the the handlebar cover… It worked well, and was very stable, but it was really ugly, and not very professional looking. This new RAM ball is much cleaner looking when installed. I picked it up today and installed it right after work (as most of you know I simply don’t have the ability to wait to install something once I receive it!). It doesn’t totally look like it belongs there, but it’s a nice clean installation and it’s still quite stable. I used washers on both sides of the plastic to increase the surface area that the mount was clamping onto for more stability.
Last week I installed the Powerlet plug so that I could have an easy power source for the GPS, as well as heated clothing should I ever buy any. Together with the adapter for the GPS that I ordered (that also arrived today) I can now plug in the GPS and have it charge it’s batteries as I ride… I’m very pleased…
Here is a photos of the set up when it’s installed.
